Dreamage at Desert Drone at The Historic Y
Dreamage at Desert Drone at The Historic Y

Desert Drone and the BCC Archives Commune team up Wednesday October 22nd to present a special show in The Historic Y Main Lobby. We’re hosting Dreamage, accompanied by Vulture Vault, and The Listening Choir.

Dreamage is a new collaborative project from Chris King and Jesse Kees of This Will Destroy You. The idea for Dreamage originated in 2018 during the writing sessions for New Others 1 & 2. Kees’ melodic sensibilities shine on tracks like “Weeping Window,” while King’s signature approach to texture and ambience is evident in pieces like “Provoke.” With their new LP Dreamage, King and Kees delve into the more tender and introspective elements of TWDY’s sound, reminiscent of tracks such as “The Puritan” and “They Move on Tracks of Never-Ending Light.”

The Archives Commune is a collective and resource space housed at the Historic Y, dedicated to preserving radical history in Arizona-- i.e., antiauthoritarian, antifascist, anticolonial, queer, trans and working-class history. The Archives Commune and Desert Drone together are building a collection of experimental music in Tucson: recordings, flyers, set lists, zines, photographs, ephemera, and oral histories documenting how these scenes create and sustain forms of collective life outside the systems of domination we are currently embedded in.

We invite contributions of materials now through October 22, culminating in a Desert Drone show and exhibit at the Historic Y. The Archives Commune will hold an open house from 3-6pm, with a focus on the Experimental Archive 6-7pm, before the music, where you can bring items to scan for the digital collection or contribute to the physical one. No donation required to visit the archives, but we encourage you to donate $12 if you attend the show to support the artists (NOTAFLOF).
