DTSTAMP:20260512T125003Z
DTSTART:20260524T020000Z
DESCRIPTION:Los Angeles based sound artist Jakob Heinemann visits Tucson Ma
y 23rd at Wave\nArchive\, joined by Slán and Britt Warner. Jakob is presen
	ting\n/////splinterings/////.\n\n/////splinterings///// is an approximatel
y 25 minute work for double bass\, live\nelectronics and preparations. The
piece comprises a spectral exploration of the\ntimbres embedded within th
e bass itself. Custom-built electronics detect the\nvarious frequencies pl
ayed by the bass\, voicing these as a sine tone\, which then\ninform the i
mprovisational choices made by the performer in a feedback loop. The\nresu
ltant texture is an expanded sonic field\, constantly morphing\, that\nsat
urates the performance space. The piece uncovers a variety of auditory\nph
enomena\, such as timbral beating\, otoacoustic emissions\, and spacializa
tion\neffects\, creating a sense of “living” sound that enters and inhabit
s the space\nalong with the performer and audience. This piece has been su
pported in the past\nby dexFest in Los Angeles and EDME New Music Festival
	 in Eugene\, OR.
